What’s the best grit to use on metal before applying body filler?
Old fillers needed a 36 grit scratch for mechanical adhesion. Body fillers today do not need a deep scratch to stick. Sand the metal with 80 grit and feather the paint edge with 180 before you apply filler for the best repair.
